Why Buy An EODD Diet Plan?

March 24th, 2012 No comments

Can’t I just use my own common sense and research?

If you thought that this article was just going to be an infomercial for the EODD diet plan you are wrong. First of all, just to clear things up, EODD stands for Every Other Day Diet by Jon Benson. I would also like to admit that this diet worked so well for me that I rave about it at times. Having said that, the EODD diet plan does not work for everyone and there are other diet plans including free ones and ones you make up on your own that might work better for you.

Egotists and diet plans

We all have a little narcissism in our blood and when it comes to diet plans, the EODD diet plan or others, there is a boatload of shouting going on. Since food is such a personal thing, everyone thinks that their situation is the only situation that is legitimate. If something doesn’t work for me I’ll shout scam—or if I am trying to catch your eye with an article.

To buy or not to buy, that is the question!

Whether to buy the EODD diet plan or not depends on you and what has made you over weight. Whether to buy the EODD diet plan or not also depends on why you failed at your other diets. Logically, most people who could research and design their own weight loss diet plan probably don’t need to lose weight because if they did need to lose weight, it was long ago and they designed their diet plan and are done with it. Those of us who still need to lose weight probably need some outside help like the EODD diet plan affords.

The EODD diet plan or pills?

I’ll admit that I have fallen for pills in the past. I mean, it seems a lot easier than trying to stick with a diet plan, even one as easy as the EODD diet plan. But pills come in three flavors so to speak.

  • Fake placebos that are only sold to you to get your money.
  • Thermogenic agents, pills that are stimulants, drugs to rev up your metabolism
  • Appetite suppressants, drugs that kill your appetite

Yes, some of these pills like the EODD diet plan will help you lose weight, but are you going to take them the rest of your life? Which I might add could be much shorter than expected when taking these drugs.

The EODD diet plan or other diet plans?

Here it gets a bit more sticky. Many other diet plans will work as well as the EODD diet plan. In fact some may help you achieve your goals even faster depending on why you are over weight and what your personality is. You see it is not good diet plans that fail, it is we who fail. If you stick with excellent diet plans like the EODD diet plan you will succeed and that is the bottom line. No matter what the diet plan offers, no matter how much or how fast you can lose weight with it. It will not work for you if you can’t or don’t stick with it.

The EODD diet plan hook!

What stood out for me with the EODD diet plan was the feed days that were demanded by the plan. These feed days, where I could eat pizza, doughnuts and anything else I’d been craving, were the answer to keeping me going on the EODD diet plan. Where I had failed on other diet plans that were just as good at helping me lose weight was negotiating the long haul of eating so differently than I was used to.

So you see, it is not a question of which good diet plan is the best, it is a question of which one can you follow all the way through and for me the EODD diet plan with its feed days was hands down best.

Discover The Importance Of A Healthy Eating Plan

March 23rd, 2012 No comments

If you’re a healthy weight and you feel good most of the time, you might think you don’t need to worry about a healthy eating plan.   You might be one of the lucky ones who just instinctively chooses the right foods and never really has to give much conscious thought to what you put in your mouth.  Or you might be one of the lucky people who seems to able to eat anything and never have a problem.

If you’re like the rest of us, though, you have to be very careful about what you eat.  A healthy eating plan might not be something we all consciously think about, but we should.  Most of us try to make healthy choices each time we eat something, and we might even quickly consider what else we’ve eaten that day or week before we eat again.  But we usually lack an overall picture of our diets.

Most of us really don’t realize how much fat we eat, for instance.  And most of us eat far too much sugar without even knowing it.  We don’t usually worry about following a healthy eating plan until we need to lose weight, or until our doctor tells us our cholesterol, blood sugar or blood pressure is too high.  Or worse, our doctor tells us that all of those things need improvement.

That’s when most of us suddenly decide we need a healthy eating plan. But if we had been following a healthy diet, we might have never had health or weight problems to begin with.  So it’s never too early to start formulating a plan for healthy eating, not only to stay at a healthy weight (or lose weight, if need be) but to stave off those problems that so many other people face like diabetes and high blood pressure.

If people in your family tend to develop diabetes later in life, or if there’s a history of heart disease, high cholesterol or high blood pressure, then the sooner you start following a healthy eating plan, the better.  You’ll be less likely to develop those same diseases if you start taking care of yourself now.  And the good news is it’s never too late.

You might think you’ve spent 40 or more years eating what you want and you’re probably already headed toward those illnesses—and you might be right. But if you start following a healthy diet today, lose any excess weight, and make conscious choices about what you eat (and how much exercise you get) you automatically lower your risks for developing those diseases.

It’s especially important to follow a healthy diet, not just for yourself, but for your children and other family members.  Kids do as they see you do.  If you show that nutrition and health are important, your kids are more likely to grow up concerned about health, too.  And they’ll have a better chance at avoiding those same illnesses. A healthy eating plan can help you, and get them off on the right foot.

The Whole Woman and Her Whole Wellness: Physical Health and Well-being

March 23rd, 2012 No comments

A woman is beautiful as she is! Welcome to the power of women, the power that makes them just as capable, as smart, as funny, and as compassionate as men. More than that, it empowers them to take up her distinctive position in society, at the same time being a daughter, a wife, a mother, homemaker, and all the other roles her considerable responsibilities call upon her seemingly infinite energy. Along with this emotional fluency, skill required to make a family survive and the language of power, the quintessential woman needs to be physically fit as well.

Very few physical disorders are unique to women, or are more prevalent or serious in women. Medical wellness consultants will inform you that the earliest to appear are precocious puberty, anorexia and bulimia. Reproductive health concerns are a major focus of women’s health. Cancer is the leading cause of death in middle-aged women. Smoking contributes to numerous causes of death and disability among women.

Lung Cancer: Cancer accounts for maximum deaths among women aged between 35 to 54 years. For years, breast cancer was the leading cancer killer among women, but now lung cancer takes the lead with more and more women taking to cigarette smoking. What makes this change frightening and dramatic is that lung cancer is a preventable disease, yet today it kills more women than breast cancer.

Breast Cancer: There is, however, good news from women health specialists regarding breast cancer treatment. Modification in surgical procedures, research indicating that estrogen receptors respond well to a drug called tamoxifen and experimenting with a new drug called RU-486, along with women taking a more active part in their health care are considerable contributions to the treatment of breast cancer.

Gallstones occur four times more frequently in women than men. Attributed to multiple pregnancies, obesity, and rapid weight loss, the real cause of this disorder is still unknown. Stones are formed in the gall bladder due to a saturation of cholesterol and bile salts that crystallize and collect over time. A number of experimental drugs are being used as an alternative to a surgical approach called cholecystectomy.

Menopause and Osteoporosis: Post-menopausal women often suffer a disorder called Osteoporosis. Lack of estrogen after menopause causes loss of bone mass, resulting in weak bones that are susceptible to easy injury in case of a fall or mishap. There are no symptoms, and that is why Osteoporosis is known as the “silent disease”. Certain steps can be taken to prevent osteoporosis from ever occurring. Women over the age of 50 have the greatest risk of developing osteoporosis and Caucasian and Asian women are more likely to develop this condition. Heredity and less body weight are an important risk factors. Exercise, calcium, vitamin D, and post-menopausal estrogen replacement play an important role in preventing this disorder.

Thyroid abnormalities are four to five times more common among women than among men. While, there is effective treatment, the cause again is unknown. Arthritis and diabetes are other disorders that are more common in women. Lupus erythematosus is a disease in which 90 percent of the victims are women.

Hence, there are quite a few disorders that are more frequent in women than in men or that differentially affect women. While considerable progress has been made to combat most of these, there remains much to be learned about others.

It is every woman’s prerogative to form clear questions about her physical health, find clear answers, gain a sense of empowerment through knowledge, and inevitably achieve peace of mind through total wellness. Here is information shared, openly and candidly, associated with women health and wellness. We women need to arm ourselves. We need this knowledge to manage our own care.

Healthy Eating Guide For Kids

March 22nd, 2012 No comments

Eating can actually be healthy and fun. But with the proliferation of fast foods and other tasty cholesterol-rich snack items, making your child see the beauty of eating healthy and natural food may become a challenge. Since access to unhealthy food choices are easy, and the choices are plenty, what‘s the best way for introducing healthy eating habits to your kids? Here are some effective healthy eating guidelines to consider.

Healthy Foods Actually Tastes Good

The typical fast food fare can be very tempting for most kids today. The problem is that the usual fast food fare consists of high-salt, high-sugar and high-calorie food items, which kids find so appealing, and are also easier to eat. For parents who are concerned about their children’s eating habits, learn to keep your cool. The reality is that healthy food can actually taste great.  However, making your children love eating healthy food may require more effort and extra planning. While carrot sticks or cauliflower stalks may not be as fun as a plate of French Fries, you’ll require a little time and creativity to make these natural food items appealing to your kids.

Slowly Introduce Your Kids To A Wide Array of Fruits and Veggies

Making your children adopt healthy eating habits need not end up in a shouting match, or a concentration camp forced-eating regimen. Slowly introducing your children to a wide array of fruits and vegetables will help in jump-starting their appreciation of healthy eating.  As most fruits are naturally sweet, it should not pose much of a barrier for kids to like. You can even create stories about the fruits and vegetables they consume, to make things more interesting. The most satisfying thing is that, once your kids consume the fruit, you’re assured that they’re getting their fill of vitamins, minerals and fiber.

Cook At Home, And Involve Your Kids

According to most healthy eating advocates, every child should be taught how to cook, both in school and at home, and not simply be fed with slogans about good nutrition. The truth is that good and healthy food can actually be cooked in just 15 minutes. Also make it a practice to involve your kids in cooking food at the kitchen. Guide your kids through the recipe. While the older kids can chop the veggies, the younger ones can help toss the salad dressing or veggies. It will also be great if you could bring the kids along to the market when buying your ingredients. The best thing with this activity is that children will easily understand the significance of food preparation, and have a better appreciation of healthy eating.

If you’re kids are initially not receptive to your healthy eating suggestions, don’t worry. Never give up in your quest to make your children find the fun in healthy eating. As most children will outgrow their often limited eating habits, their tastes and food choices shall develop and expand, over time. Although it may take you more than 10 or 15 tries before your kids start appreciating the perks of eating legumes, beans, cabbages, squash, lettuce and other greens. Once they find the fun in eating fruits and vegetables, you’ll soon find yourself with happy, contented and healthy eaters.

Healthy Eating ..... (259/365) Medium
Anyone who knows me, knows that I am into healthy eating and am always banging the drum where diet and exercise are concerned!

I was reading some pretty shocking statistics about how some children are not only not getting enough fresh fruit and vegetables each day – but some are even struggling to correctly identify certain fruits when they are presented with a picture of them. Shocking …..

Like most children, my girls are given the odd packet of crisps, sweets or chocolate here and there, but we always have plenty of fruit on hand as a first choice. Francesca is particularly fond of Bananas – or "Narnna’s" as she refers to them!!

Here she is devouring one earlier!
