How To Reach Your Fitness Goals

November 17th, 2012 Comments off

Are you trying to get fit? Getting into good physical condition is a great way to live a healthy and productive life. Being in great shape is great for so many different aspects of your life. Not only does it help you feel better, but being in shape helps you look better, too. If you are looking to reach a fitness goal, read the following article, and it will help you get to where you want to go.

The very first thing you need to do is set goals for yourself. Writing down the goals has been proven to be helpful. You should set both long and short term goals, and record the date you would like to meet each particular goal. Make sure what you want to do is possible and that you are not making goals that are too hard, or you will probably get frustrated and quit.

Once you have set your goals, it is time to get to work. Depending on what you are trying to accomplish, you will need to start working on ways to meet your goals in the time period you have set for yourself.

It is important to reach your goals, but it is even more important not to push yourself too hard. Most people need a little push to reach their goals, but by pushing too hard, you are setting yourself up for failure. Many people that push themselves too hard either find themselves getting burnt out or getting injured. If you get injured, chances are you are not going to meet your goal in the time you had set for yourself.

Getting into shape does not only require exercise, it requires a healthy diet, too. Take a look at what you are consuming, and figure out what is hurting your body and what is helping your body. Then you can make the necessary changes.

Getting into shape is not a quick process. You need to remember that as you are in the process. If you find that you are not reaching your goals as quickly as you would like, take some time to assess why you are not reaching them. Is there something standing in the way? Was the goal too hard? Have you slacked off in you exercise routine? Do not be too hard on yourself, and most of all, do not give up.

As you begin to reach your goals, you should reward yourself. Everyone’s rewards will be different, and your rewards should be something that motivates you. It should not be food, though. If you have been eyeing a new pair of shoes, make that a reward. Or maybe you want to spend a day at the spa. That could be a reward as well.

Getting into shape and reaching goals is not an overnight process. As long as you are willing to give it some time and effort, it won’t be long, and you will be achieving what you have set out to achieve.

Consider taking a dance class, or another type of aerobic class. Dancing is a great form of exercise and can be a lot of fun. Diet Fitness Plan Review: The EODD Diet Plan and The 7 Minute Muscle Fitness Plan

July 31st, 2012 Comments off

What Is The EODD Diet Plan?

EODD stands for The Every Other Day Diet (EODD for short.) and it is a fun and affective version of an eat every other day diet plan.  Now before you panic and click away from this article, The Every Other Day Diet does not advocate eating only every other day, but instead it helps you plan a lean protein diet that will start you losing weight.  As you know, these types of diets can often run into long periods of no weight loss even though you are following the plan.  The Every Other Day Diet or EODD for short uses a fun and innovative way around this problem.  It incorporates “feed days” into the EODD diet plan to boost your metabolism and keep your body from plateauing in it weight loss.  So as  you can see it is not strictly an eat every other day diet like the QOD diet is. (Available from Amazon)

The EODD Diet Is Easier To Follow For Emotional Eaters

I have never been sure what an emotional eater was, I mean who doesn’t like to eat?  But if we are talking about feeling trapped by long periods eating in a way we don’t like when we are on a diet then the EODD diet plan is the best answer I have found.  With the EODD diet plan you are never a long time away from eating the foods you like and this makes the EODD diet plan the easiest one to stick to that I have found.

The 7 Minute Muscle

The EODD Diet Plan incorporates exercise for fitness.  Jon, the author, believes that weight loss and fitness go hand in hand, but if you really want to lose the weight and get in shape you can utilize Jon’s 7 Minute Muscle guide to fitness.  The beauty of this guide is its ability to fit into any type of schedule and while losing weight on the EODD diet plan the 7 Minute Muscle will help you build lean muscle tissue which further promotes weight loss.  This combination makes a very doable diet fitness plan.

Why Most People Fail On A Diet Fitness Plan.

Unlike The EODD and 7 Minute Muscle diet fitness plan, most other plans labeled, diet fitness plan, set you up for failure because they are either to complicated to follow or they require too much of your time.  Most people quit a diet fitness plan because of these two issues.  The EODD and 7 Minute Muscle diet fitness plan can easily fit into your schedule and help you stay on track because of the “feed days” and the compact ease of The 7 Minute Muscle.

The Draw Backs.

The EODD and 7 Minute Muscle are not automatic-take-a-pill solutions to your health they will require some effort and commitment from you, but just like a word processor helps you write more efficiently than just a pen and paper, the EODD and 7 Minute Muscle will help you attain your health goals faster than just salads and an exercise mat.

While planning my obligatory family visit back to western PA in October 2011 I noticed the PA Renaissance Faire was in progress. Since I fly into Washington National it was a little bit of a detour to Mannheim, PA, but I decided to give it a shot. After a redeye flight from Alaska and getting lost around Baltimore I made it to the Faire late on Saturday afternoon, half groggy, but ready to check it out it. Nice faire, a bit expensive, but worth the detour. I went back on Sunday for more of the faire and was in much better shape. Overall, a very nice experience. I had a program with the performers but it is currently MIA, so if you happen to know any of the names, please let me know

Fitness and Healthy Eating Guide!

For most Americans healthy eating is not about eating adequately. If anything, it is just the opposite – we eat too much! Healthy eating menu will keep you fit only when you eat the right foods in the right quantity at the right time.

For many people, maintaining a desirable weight and body fat % can only be achieved through an integrated program of nutrition and healthy food chart or balancing energy intake with energy expenditure. If you’re overweight, shedding pounds often results in reduced risk of heart disease, diabetes, high blood pressure and other diseases. Even small weight losses can have significant health benefits

So let’s take a look at what serving sizes of food are right for us and what are these ‘right quantities’.

• Ensure you are eating at least 3 servings from each of the five food groups.

• Eating food that is high in fiber i.e. grains, fruits and vegetables are good for you. Apart from giving wholesome nutrients, it ensures you are not constipated.

• Combine your food with low-fat milk and low cholesterol cooking oil. Always prefer to use healthy veggies recipes.

• Make dramatic reductions in the quantum of salt and sugar (even sugar substitutes are dangerous because they serve to confuse the body due their ‘emptiness’.)

• If you must, then drink in moderation

• Eating all your healthy meals including healthy eating breakfast is essential and have them on time Everytime.

• Eating tiny meals (fruits or nuts or sandwich) every two hours and reducing the portion sizes of your lunch and dinner is ideal.

• Eat and chew slowly concentrating on your food. Savor its flavor and taste.

• Using portion control plates and portion control scooper is smarter than using normal plates (except of course, when you have guests at the dining table). Use portion control plates for all your family members including your kids because portion control plates are about eating the right quantities of all foods.

• Unless you have taken less than the recommended quantum of healthy eating food, don’t go for seconds.

• Bake, broil or grill food instead of frying.

• Obtain the bulk of your protein from vegetables rather than meats. And when it comes to meats, select fresh lean meat cuts from your local butcher.

Fitness:

Physical fitness was part of the human evolutionary process. For tens of thousands of years, traveling meant either walking or running from place to place. Humans hunted game for their food. Hunting in turn required tremendous stamina and energy. The level of physical fitness and healthy eating tips meant that our ancestors stayed healthy and strong. Today, we don’t even manually sharpen a pencil or move to switch on the lights. Everything is either automatically operated or remotely controlled. And what has been the result of all this automation and finger-tip technology? Our physical body has so degraded due to lack of exercise and fitness that it has resulted in serious health problems. In short, the advancement in science and technology was and is being used for the wrong purposes. This is not to say that we should begin hunting or ditch the car and start running again (though quite frankly, the latter would not be a bad idea). Instead, we need to ensure we have a certain minimum level of physical activity such as:

• Strollers and prams are okay but also let your infant roam around the house – let it use its arms and legs as much as possible

• Make sure your kids get to play outside for no less than one hour each day. Try and join them in their games.

• Plan weekly family outings such as rough terrain biking, swimming in the sea, badminton, baseball, tennis, and so on. Even hula hoops are good.

• If you have a jogging track nearby take your family for a jog thrice a week.

• Make physical activity a part of the family fun activities.

So let’s take a look at what foods are right for us and what are these ‘right quantities’.
